but you can call me Gen!



I’m a couples and elopement photographer with a passion for storytelling, capturing genuine connection and beautiful love stories.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where I met my husband, Edwin. We moved to New Jersey in 2019 and welcomed our little one in 2020. I’m a 28-year-old mom, a Taurus, and a bit of a coffee-fueled creative. I love the color green, I love animals, especially my two cats, Anubis and Apollo, and I’m always down for ramen or chicken wings. I also love watching anime, have a few anime tattoos, and 9/10 times I will choose staying at home, watching TV with a cozy blanket instead of going out.

I started photography when I was in high school, but my passion for couples and  film photography began in recent years. I can’t believe it took me that long to discover my true passion. Film photography has slowed me down, it’s made me a more detailed, in-the-moment photographer, and I love that about where I’m heading.

I choose couples photography because I thrive in connection and I love romance and stories of love. It’s like I get to build a movie out of the photos of your love story, frame by frame, turning real moments into something timeless.

Being away from home has shaped me more than I expected. I miss my family, I miss the people, I miss my culture, I miss the river, the rainforest, the mountains, and the smell of the rain. Those pieces of where I come from live in the way I see and capture moments, with intention, emotion, and a deep appreciation for what’s in front of me.

My goal for this business is to eventually go fully into film photography. I know it’ll take time, but that goal is not something I’m going to shelve. I’m so excited for what the future holds, and I will keep expanding, growing, and making Garay’s Photography into the successful business that I know it can be.
